Reading Festival Chorus

Our Conductor - Janet Lincé

Since 1990, Janet Lincé has gained widespread recognition for her conducting of many different choirs and orchestras. She is currently Musical Director of four choirs and has performed in churches, cathedrals and concert halls throughout the South East and the Midlands as well as abroad.

Janet is committed to encouraging a wider appreciation of choral music of all periods. Having worked as a professional singer, she has first-hand experience of music from the early Renaissance to contemporary works. She has a particular interest in the period instrument performance of the music of JS Bach and his contemporaries. However, her repertoire also includes the major oratorios such as Brahms' Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah and Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony, and less well-known works such as Holst's Choral Fantasia, Janacek's Otcenas and newly commissioned works.

Janet conducts regular choral workshops throughout the UK and has also toured New Zealand four times, having now established close links with numerous choirs and conductors.

As a guest chorusmaster with the BBC Symphony Chorus, the Philharmonia Chorus and the London Symphony Chorus, Janet has worked for conductors such as Andrew Davis, Richard Hickox, Yakov Kreizberg, Kurt Masur and Mikhail Pletnev. She is chorusmaster for the Newbury Spring Festival Chorus who performed in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2003.
