DÜSSELDORF TWINNING

The town of Reading is twinned with Düsseldorf, with an association dating back to 1947. Reading Festival Chorus first exchanged a visit with a chorus from Düsseldorf in 1987, and have had several such visits since. In July 2019 Johanneskantorei visited Reading, and in September 2019 we returned to Düsseldorf, to sing the Requiem by Verdi - which happens to be the work we first performed together back in 1987.
The exchange visits provide a chance to sing works for larger forces and a great opportunity for music making across borders. Many of those travelling stay with hosts which helps build continuing friendships.
